Milling of materials in non-ferrous materials with CNC machines

Milling techniques for all industrial sectors with our Machining Centres

Milling is a process involving the removal of material and allows us obtain a wide range of complex surfaces (shapes, planes, grooves, shoulders, holes, etc) by using sharp tools with a defined geometry, so-called milling cutters, mounted on machine tools such as milling machines or machining centres.

Unlike other, simpler types of processes, milling requires the rotation of the tool mounted on a motor spindle and the simultaneous movement of the motorised axes of a machine tool that move the spindle or the workpiece being machined: as they rotate, the sharp edges of the milling cutter remove material from the workpiece when it touches the milling cutter.

Milling a surface usually involves an initial roughing cycle where the material is removed as quickly and as economically as possible, leaving a layer with enough material for the following finishing stage. During the latter, the last excess parts are removed to obtain the required dimensions.

Finishing allows us to follow the initial project in terms of dimensional tolerances and degree of surface roughness.

Milling can be applied to various materials, for which System Robot Automazione has specialised in machines to mill aluminium, composite materials, wood, resins and plastic.

System Robot Automazione manufactures 5-axis NC machining centres and milling cutters by applying top standards in terms of quality, safety and flexibility and providing a range of solutions you can draw from to configure the one that best matches your manufacturing needs in terms of the type of materials, speed, precision and sector application, such as: automotive, aerospace, models and moulds.
