MILLING OF GLASS FIBRE COMPOSITE MATERIALS WITH CNC MACHINES

Trimming and milling of materials reinforced with glass fibre for highly resistant components

Composite materials (Fibre Reinforced Polymers - FRP) refer to materials that are not available in nature and resulting from the combination of at least two chemically different materials that retain their identity and properties in the final compounds without fully blending into each other.

Fibreglass or VTR consists of a woven or non-woven fabric (felt with fibres in a random pattern) reinforcement impregnated with thermosetting resins, usually liquid and based on polyester, vinylester or epoxy, which harden after machining through the action of catalysts and accelerators.

It is also known as glass-fibre reinforced plastic or GFRP, GFK (from the German term Glasfaserverstärkter Kunststoff) or as glass fibre or fibreglass from the name of the material forming it, together with the plastic matrix.

Fibreglass is used to manufacture objects exposed to atmospheric agents and corrosion in basic environments such as sea water, in particular parts of vehicles and boats, swimming pools, tanks, skylights, etc.

For its excellent lightness, solidity and resistance to fatigue, fibreglass is also used in the aeronautical sector and to manufacture wind turbines.

With our machines we offer a wide range of dimensional and technological solutions to meet, as best as possible, the milling and trimming needs of all components made with composite materials, with specific solutions that come with protection systems against dust generated by milling.

With our consultancy service, you will always know which is the best-suited solution for your project.
